The Power in Pink 5k is a run sponsored by the Radiology Associates of Hackettstown Women’s Imaging Center with proceeds going to the Susan G. Koman Cancer Research Foundation.
POWER IN PINK – WALK/FUN RUN 5K
We will be holding the Power in Pink 5k this year VIRTUALLY !
The Power in Pink 5k is an annual family walk/run which is sponsored by the ImageCare / Radiology Associates of Hackettstown women’s imaging center. It will be held this year during the month of October with local participants meeting at the Columbia Trail in Long Valley, NJ on October 4, 2020, the same day as the Susan G. Komen walk! To unite safely for this great cause, we will be emailing directions and staggered start times if you choose to attend a walk/run with friends. Please note that you can walk/run the race at ANY TIME during the month of October so these are not strict start times and the event will not be a timed event! Start times will be spread apart to social distance as we all unite safely for this great cause! All runners/walkers will be provided with a t-shirt and goodies during packet pickup or by mail for those who are in need or not local after completing the walk/run. Details for mask and packet pickup outside of our Hackettstown facility will be sent via email to participants by September 23, 2020.
Our goal is to raise money and support to aid in the fight against breast cancer. At last year’s Power in Pink 5k, we were able to raise $5,500 for Susan G. Komen. Since 1982, Susan G. Komen has invested almost $3 billion in this fight. Every major breast cancer breakthrough has been funded with Komen’s research dollars. Although there has been lots of positive impact as a result of all this funding, more support and funding is still needed to continue the fight. In northern NJ, Susan G. Komen has invested nearly 26 million dollars in research and local community-based health screening treatment education, and support programs. The 9 communities they serve are located throughout Northern NJ: Bergen, Essex, Morris, Passaic, Hudson, Somerset, Sussex, Union and Warren.
This year, we are dedicating this race to one of our own (and her family) who lost her own battle in early April. Many of you met her at the race last year; she was so happy to be there and to get to know all of you! She would want us to let you know your support is needed and is also greatly appreciated by the Power in Pink planning team and the staff at ImageCare / Radiology Associates of Hackettstown.
